Tenya

Since 2008 Tenya has been teaching her Dynamic Vinyasa Flow and Gentle yoga classes at our studio. She began her journey over 25 years ago, teaching both dance and movement classes, including teaching international yoga retreats for the last 15 years. Originally studying Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, Tenya has studied around the world with many leading yoga teachers. Since 2000 she has studied extensively with Shiva Rea.

As her practice has evolved over many years, Tenya has developed her own style of yoga, infused with her passion for music and dance and her past experiences as a dancer, performer, and choreographer. Tenya’s dynamic classes are creative, enthusiastic, energetic, and fun. Her sequencing is a graceful flow of postures, linking asanas with pranayama and incorporating gentle, relaxing, and restorative techniques. Her yoga classes are filled with love and “aloha” and are suitable for all levels. As a senior teacher she provides her students with the tools necessary to carry their yoga practice on and off the mat, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, honesty, and mindfulness in order to find peace.

Her philosophy is “Be in the present moment, listen to the sat-guru (inner guru) that’s inside you, embrace the physical, spiritual, and healing qualities of yoga, and most importantly enjoy the process.”

Tenya loves the sense of community that yoga brings into her daily life. When she is not teaching you may find her at the beach with her family and friends, spending quality time with her two young boys.
